Fault Cases and Relay Protection Measures

This paper analyzes the basic principle and function of relay protection, summarizes the common fault types, and analyzes the fault analysis methods and treatment measures combined with actual cases. Selectivity is a mandatory requirement for all protection, but the importance of it depends on the application. For example, unselective protection operation during a medium voltage network fault will cause an outage for an unnecessarily large number of consumers. It involves the use of protective relays to detect abnormal conditions, such as faults or disturbances, and initiate appropriate actions to isolate. This handbook covers the code of practice in protection circuitry including standard lead and device numbers, mode of connections at terminal strips, colour codes in multicore cables, dos and donts in execution. Also principles of various protective relays and schemes including special protection. With the development of the power industry, people's demand for electricity is growing, there is a contradiction between the current power resources and user demand for electricity, the main reason is that the substation operation there are some problems, causing power resources hard work.
