  2. Access Router Admin Panel: Open a browser and enter the router's IP address (commonly 192.168.1.1) to access settings .
  3. Enter ISP Credentials: If your ISP uses PPPoE, input the username and password provided. For new contracts, “Easy Login” may be active, allowing connection without specific credentials .
  4. VLAN Configuration: Some ISPs, like Telekom, require setting the VLAN ID (e.g., VLAN 7) on the WAN interface for proper connectivity .
  5. Firmware Updates: Ensure your router firmware is up to date for optimal performance and security .
Troubleshooting
  • No Internet Access: Verify all cables are securely connected, the ONT is powered, and the ISP has activated your service .
  • Missing Credentials: Contact your ISP if you did not receive PPPoE username/password or access numbers. Many ISPs provide these via customer portal or email .
  • Router Compatibility: Check the router's manual or manufacturer website to confirm fiber compatibility, especially for SFP modules or GPON support .
Additional Tips
  • Place the router centrally in your home for optimal Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Avoid bending or damaging fiber optic cables, as they are fragile.
  • For advanced users, OpenWRT routers can be configured as gateways for fiber connections, allowing VLAN and PPPoE customization .
