During testing, the light source is connected to one end of the fiber, and the OPM is connected to the other. The OPM then measures the optical power transmitted through the fiber. This setup allows technicians to:

  • Verify the signal strength of transmitters and receivers.
  • Measure insertion loss across fiber links.
